Good morning! I apologize in advance to those who do not follow a gluten-free diet because this post won't be of much interest to you. But I have to share two new gluten-free items that I've discovered!
I've been working on getting back into my regular eating after my colonoscopy last week. I felt quite good on Saturday but I was still waiting for my bowels to work again. Or work again well. Hopefully my Wednesday WI will be a good one. BTW, stay tuned -- I might just post some progress photos on Wednesday's post!
Gluten-Free Finds
The first is PIZZA! I haven't tried this but I hope to soon -- this photo was sent to me from one of my listmates on a celiac mailing list. This is a photo of a gluten-free pizza made by PizzaPizza. Apparently they are trying out gluten-free pizza in the Toronto locations only of PizzaPizza. I hope, hope, hope that they enlarge the area eventually to include all of Ontario -- hey, all of CANADA would be great! Doesn't it look yummy?

On the weekend I went to my Fortino's store to see if they had the gluten-free hot cross buns that they didn't receive on time for easter. They didn't have the buns but I saw these Cinnamon-Sugar donuts from Kinnikinick! I've said to my DH many times that if I ever see a gluten-free donut, I'd buy it. Pre-GF I rarely ate donuts but every once in a while I'd have one and thorougly enjoy it -- and I really enjoyed these! I shared them with my family and they all liked them (and it made me get rid of the package faster!) -- my girls especially liked them. Without the gluten they are (of course) much denser, but they were a really nice treat!

And I thought I'd post about this here also -- a few months ago I picked up a package of Rolo candies for my kids. After they'd eaten some I grabbed the package and read the ingredients (something I do all the time!) and was surprised to see that they contain glucose-fructose from either wheat or corn! I googled this and apparently glucose-fructose can be derived from wheat and from what I've read, the process renders it safe for celiacs. I don't know if this is true, so I've stayed away from these (which is good for weight loss anyway!). FYI.
Have a great day! ~ D

Those look great ...... I have got to get serious about that diet... I read something the other day and I wish that I had made a note as to who said it or where I read it,, but the write was a medical Dr. working with people that were trying to diet and to regain their health.. He said that if people would eliminate corn syrup and gluten from their diet we would put the Dr out of business... I found that very interesting.. We have about eliminated the corn syrup but not the gluten........ I need to sit up and take notice of what I am reading......... thanks for the great ideas........
